NBA | May 22, 2013 Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat |
Indiana Pacers +8-110 at SIA |
Won $100 |
|
Indiana has played solid basketball all season, and the Pacers figure to give Miami a tough battle in this series. These two teams met in the playoffs last season, and the Heat needed six games to defeat Indiana. The Pacers won two of the first three games in that series before Miami took control; they split the first two games on Miami’s home court. The Pacers also won two of the three regular season meetings against the Heat this season; they won those games by 10 and 13 points. Indiana matches-up extremely well against Miami because of their interior size, and teams that can control the paint like the Pacers have an excellent shot to beat Miami every time they play. Indiana’s defense has been tremendous in the playoffs; they’ve held their opponents to less than 100 points in 10 of 12 games while holding opponents to 85 points or less five times. The Pacers’ defense held Miami to 89 and 77 points in two games this season so they’ve proven they can contain the Heat offense. Miami has been off for a week, and we didn’t see their best effort in a similar spot in the last round against the Bulls; Miami lost Game 1 to Chicago when coming off a 7-day layoff. The Heat were out of sync for that game as they scored just 86 points while shooting 39.7% (31-78) from the field and 29.2% (7-24) from three-point land. Chicago also out-scored Miami 40-32 in the paint in that game which is not a good sign. Indiana has better interior play than Chicago so we expect this game to play out exactly like Miami’s Game 1 against the Bulls. Miami is taking a major step-up in competition in this series after playing a bad Milwaukee team and an injury-decimated Chicago team in the last two rounds. We expect this game to be close throughout so we’ll take the points with Indiana in Game 1 on Wednesday night. 10* Play PACERS (+). |

MLB | May 22, 2013 Washington: G Gonzalez vs. San Francisco: Bumgarner |
San Francisco: Bumgarner -146 at 5DIMES |
Lost $146.0 |
|
The Nationals wrap up their long West Coast road trip on Wednesday afternoon with a game against the Giants. Madison Bumgarner goes for San Francisco and he is 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA in nine starts. Bumgarner threw a complete game five hitter against Washington at home last year while giving up just 1 run in the process. Adam LaRoche has seen the Giants’ starter the most and he has only 2 hits in 13 at-bats. Washington is 5-5 against left-handed starters and they are hitting just .216 in those games. The Nationals are hitting .214 in the daytime and right around .220 on the road. The Giants’ bullpen has an ERA right around 2.00 at home. Gio Gonzalez is 1-1 with a 6.10 ERA in four road starts. He gave up 3 runs and six hits his last time out to light-hitting San Diego. The Giants are 9-5 versus left-handed starters while hitting .292 in those games. Washington's bullpen is a bit of a mess due to injuries and ineffectiveness. We expect San Francisco to notch a solid home win in this game on Wednesday afternoon. 9* Play GIANTS (-) (action). |

MLB | May 22, 2013 Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies |
Colorado Rockies -124 at 5DIMES |
Won $100 |
|
The Rockies and Diamondbacks wrap up their 3-game series on Wednesday afternoon. Trevor Cahill has been good for the Diamondbacks, but he’s taking a big step-up in class here after facing weak-hitting teams like the Marlins, Dodgers, and Phillies. He has shown a lack of control walking 11 in his last three outings. Cahill is 2-4 with a 4.87 ERA in seven career starts against the Rockies which makes sense considering he is a sinkerball pitcher who struggles in Coors Field. He lost to the Rockies in Colorado back on April 20th after giving up 4 runs and six hits in seven innings. The Rockies are hitting .288 against the Arizona starter as a team and they are hitting right around .300 in their last eight games. Arizona's bullpen has 11 blown saves on the year so they can be beaten. Jorge De La Rosa has yet to lose in three home starts this season giving up 5 total runs and 14 hits in 17 innings. One of those wins came over Arizona back on April 20th when he gave up two hits and two walks in six innings. He is 7-4 with a 2.41 ERA in 14 career starts against the Diamondbacks. Arizona is hitting just .242 against left-handed starters as a team. We expect Colorado to get a solid home win in this game on Wednesday afternoon. 9* Play ROCKIES (-) (action). |
